Teaching Bio:

Hello, my name is Tom and I am a professional piano teacher based here in Sheffield. I cover a wide range of different genres, including jazz, pop and contemporary music, while specialising in classical pieces. I have many years experience as a teacher, helping students of all ages to progress on the piano. I have a lot of experience in teaching beginner students, taking them through a carefully constructed course of lessons that provides a foundation to playing the piano.

For more advanced players I am both able to take them through grades, should they be interested, as well as develop further as pianists through exploring the music that they are passionate about. Indeed, many of my students simply learn for fun - enjoying my laid back and friendly tuition.

I am also a qualified teacher, having gained Grade 8 on piano, as well as undertaking a University of Sheffield degree in music. Alongside this musical study I also have performed at many events and venues through the UK, including the University of Oxford and Sheffield Cathedral both solo as well as as part of a wider ensemble. I would be delighted to help you learn to play the piano as well, and I am confident that whether you a beginner or an advanced student I have the lessons to help you achieve your goals on the piano. To book a lesson with me simply email tomhawkins@pianolessonssheffield.com.

"Tom has not only improved my piano playing but he also helped me become a more confident musician through technique tutorials and talking about music theory. As someone who had been taught piano before, I would definitely recommend Tom." Matty, Student

Teaching Bio:

Hello, my name is Jonathan Draper. Based in Crosspool, Sheffield, S10 5RB, I have been teaching music privately from my home for fifteen years. After attending Ackworth School on a classical music scholarship, I continued my artistic development at Edinburgh University and at Trinity College of Music in London. Since then, I have played in a wide range of musical contexts, including classical, jazz, blues and folk. I am also experienced in accompanying choirs, and instrumentalists for their music exams.

I teach piano to all ages and abilities. I tailor lessons to suit the music my pupils want to learn. Whether that is classical grades up to Grade 8, the jazz piano style of Fats Waller, or the chords from your favourite pop song, the most important things to me are that pupils learn the music they are passionate about and leave lessons loving every note they play. For those wishing to pursue the Grades, I use the ABRSM exam syllabus.

I have experience teaching pupils from school age up to retirement age, and I particularly enjoy starting beginners on the road to making music. To book a lesson with me simply email jonathandraper@pianolessonssheffield.com.
